Olean- Patricia A. Nicol “Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother”
Patricia A. Nicol of 712 Front Street passed away on May 12, 2022, at Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Patricia was born on December 9, 1938, in Port Allegany and was the daughter of Maynard and Evelyn Blanchard Painter. On February 17, 1962, at the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Allegany she married her loving husband of 60 years, Louis D. Nicol who survives her.
Patricia was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean. Patricia graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1956 and was a graduate of the Edward J. Meyer School of Nursing Class of 1959 in Buffalo. During her 33 yearlong nursing career she worked mostly at the Olean General Hospital as well as the Allegany Nursing Home and J+S Home HealthCare where she retired from in the early 90s.
Patricia enjoyed reading, going to Rushford Lake with family, vacationing at Daytona Beach Florida, and just being with her family and friends. Patricia was a member of the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary where she held several positions, volunteered for the March of Dimes for many years, and she was a member of the Red Hottie Hatters of Olean for many years.
Besides her loving husband, Patricia is survived by her three daughters, Anne M. (William) Milligan, Andrea M. (Todd) McLaughlin, and Amy L. Halladay all of Olean, three grandchildren, Jared McLaughlin, Jordan McLaughlin, and Chloeann Halladay, her two siblings, Bonita J. Young of Buffalo, and Thomas Finley of Hershey, and several nieces and nephews.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, one grandson, Christopher T. McLaughlin on December 4, 1994, and three brothers, James Painter, Raymond K. Blanchard, and Charles Blanchard.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Monday May 16, 2022, from 4:00-7:00pm a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels on Tuesday May 17, 2022, at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
