Orin E. Parker

February 16, 1931 — August 31, 2016

Orin E. Parker of 41 North 2nd Street, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at home following an apparent heart attack. Orin was born Feb. 16, 1931 in Portville and was the son of John B. and Nellie C. Sherman Parker, Sr. On November 22, 1952, in Cattaraugus he married his wife of almost 64 years, Margaret G. Parker, who survives. Orin graduated from Olean High School in 1948. He served in the US Army from March 5, 1948 to March 4, 1952, earning the Occupation Medal, Korea and Korean Service Medal with 5 battle stars, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Orin worked for the Acme Electric Corporation for 41 years, retiring in 1993. Orin was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, the Enchanted Mountain Lodge #252 Free and Accepted Masons, the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892, and the 5th Regimental Combat Team Association. He was a life member of the VFW Post #6533 in Randolph. Orin was a former member of the Valley of Jamestown Consistory, Valley of Coudersport Consistory, and the Olean Area Industrial Management Club. Along with his loving wife, Orin is survived by four children, Gregory E. Parker of Lake Placid, Gerald B. (Deborah) Parker of Jordan, Robert A. (Kathy) Parker of Allegany, and Kevin J. (Kelley) Parker of North Syracuse; four grandchildren, G. Brian (Keely) Parker of Liverpool, Matthew (Rebecca) Parker of Sherwood, OR, Chad (Kristina) Parker of Mooresville, NC, and Conner Parker of Cicero; two great grandsons, Brian & Camren; four great granddaughters, Emma, Montana, Madelyn, & Dakota; and one brother, Allen L. "Pete" Parker. Orin was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, John B. Parker, Jr., Sherman Lyle Parker, and Neil E. Parker; and one sister, N. Elaine Sroka. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean today, Sept. 2, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Robert Howard, will officiate. Burial, with Full Military honors to be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892, will be in the Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to a charity of the Donor's Choice. Online condolences may be made clicking on the button above.
