Allegany- Norman L. Moore “Loving Father & Grandfather”

 

Norman Leroy Moore of Morgan Hollow passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Olean General Hospital.

 

Norman was born on April 7, 1939, in Olean and was the son of George Nelson and Florice Juva Luce Moore. On January 1, 1966, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany, he married his loving wife, Mary L. Bellamy who predeceased him on June 16, 2020.

 

Norman was a 1958 graduate of Allegany Central School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University. Norman worked for Dresser Rand for 30 years, retiring as a Vice President in 2006.

 

Norman was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany where he served as a deacon. He was a former board member of the Olean YMCA and Olean General Hospital. Norman enjoyed bicycling, camping, running marathons, and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. Norman will be remembered as a family man and a hard worker.

 

Norman is survived by his four children; Matthew J. Moore of Jamestown, Shane A. (Nyssa) Moore of Katy, TX., TroyAnne D. Huntington of Allegany, and Misty D. (Michael) Bowley of Allegany, many grand and great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Terry Bellamy of Olean.

 

Norman was predeceased by his parents, loving wife, Mary, and two brothers, Fred and Maynard Moore.

 

Friends will be received at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 36 N 4th Street Allegany, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 2:00-4:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Gerald F. laFeber will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
