Olean- Merlin J. Mosher “Loving Father & Papa”
Merlin J. Mosher of 2063 Hillcrest Ave passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Absolute of Allegany.
Merlin was born on January 5, 1931 in Cattaraugus and was the son of Raymond and Emma Hintz Mosher. On January 3, 1953 in Salamanca he married the love of his life Laura Loraine Boardman who predeceased him on April 3, 2021.
Merlin was a class of 1949 graduate of Cattaraugus High School. After high school he ran the family farm as well as opening and running a TV & Radio repair shop. They moved to Olean in 1960 and Merlin worked at AVX for well over 30 years, retiring in 1991 as Engineering Manager. Merlin was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities including Treasurer for 17 years.
Merlin enjoyed working, planting in his vegetable and flower gardens, being in the outdoors especially at his family camp, and most of all he loved his wife and family whom he enjoyed spending time with.
Merlin is survived by; 3 sons, Douglas J. Mosher and Keith R. (Diane) Mosher both of Olean and Kevin R. (Becky) Mosher of Little Valley; Son in law, Scott Ralston of Olean; 13 Grandchildren, Crystal, Jessica, Joshua, Phillip, Jennifer, Stephanie, Nova, Rory, Jena, Zane, Adam, Joel and Katie; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his loving wife Loraine, Merlin was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Debra J. Ralston and 3 siblings, Lester Mosher, Miriam Sheffield, and Gearld W. Mosher.
Friends will be received at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Leo Moss Drive, Olean on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1:00PM to 2:00 PM at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Kim E. Rossi Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
