Olean – Mary A. Neff "Loving Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother"
Mary A. Neff, of 1705 North Union Street, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on June 7, 1932 in Olean and was a daughter of Eugene and Victoria Padlo McCarthy. On April 24, 1954, at St. Mary of the Angels Parish, she married her husband of 55 years, Harry C. Neff, who predeceased her on Aug. 12, 2009.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Olean High School. After raising her family, she began working for Leo's supermarket for several years before their fire in the early 1970's. Then Mary began working at the Family Bargain Center, until the Olean Center Mall opened and she worked for AM&A's, which then became the BonTon, where she retired from after working about 20 years, in about 2000. She was formerly a member of Transfiguration Oratory. Mary was currently a member of the St. Bonaventure Parish. She was also a member of the Polaski Club and the Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was an avid bingo player and enjoyed going to the casino, but she truly loved spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by; 5 children, Charles F. Neff of Pittsfield, MA, Karl D. Neff and Karen A. "Ronnie" Neff both of Olean, Diana L. (Dan) Piccioli of Allegany, and Kurt A. (Katy) Neff of Olean; 7 grandchildren, Jason (Meela) Neff, Justin Neff, Janessa Neff, Bryan (Karissa Schneider) Piccioli, Lauren (Ryan Dotterer) Piccioli, Kyle Neff, and Taylor Neff; 2 great grandchildren, Ares Neff and Elliana Neff; a brother, Christopher (Jay) McCarthy of Placentia, CA; 2 sisters, Ann Morris of Elma and Barbara Wozniak of Cheektowaga; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Mary was predeceased by; 2 brothers, Eugene McCarthy, Jr. and Donald McCarthy.
At Mary's request, there will be no Public Visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Parish on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:30 am. The Rev. James Vacco, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
