Mary Louise Ash of 211 North 4th Street, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Olean General Hospital.
Mary Lou was born on Feb. 13, 1927 in Buffalo and was a daughter of David J. and Mary L. Lapp Watt. On Jan. 2, 1956 in Buffalo she married her husband Fred J. Ash, who survives.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Kenmore High School. She also graduated from Alfred University with a degree in nursing and a Masters in Community Service Administration. She worked at Buffalo General Hospital, Cuba Memorial Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Cattaraugus County Nursing Homes in both Olean and Michias. Mary Lou worked at the Olean General Hospital in the Staff Development and Education Department until her retirement on March 1, 1996.
Mary Lou was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, the Parish Council and was also a Eucharistic Minister. She also was formerly a member of the American Heart Association.
Surviving Mary Lou including her husband of 54 years are three sons, Mark R. (Patricia) Ash of Hinsdale, Steven M. (Wendy) Ash of Naples, NY, and Charles A. Ash of Canandaigua, NY; two daughters, Mary Ellen Ash of Arlington, VA., and Susan M. (Kevin) Shea of Buffalo; six grand children, Kelsey G. Shea, Nick R. Shea, Madeline G. Ash, CJ Ash, Luke F. Ash, and Marisa L. Ash; a brother, David Edwin (Patricia) Watt of Clearwater, Fl., and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald Watt and a sister, Patricia Liskoff.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home #646 E. State St. Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in St. John's Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward J. Sheedy, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
