Mark A. Levine of 383 Barks Rd., Caledonia, formerly of Cuba passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 in the Olean General Hospital following as brief illness.
Mr. Levine was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 19, 1960 and was a son of William G. & Ada C. Heffler Levine. On September 12, 1981 in Cuba he married Patricia A. Smith, who survives.
Mr. Levine was a 1978 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, Niagara Falls, NY.
Mr. Levine moved to Cuba in 1979 and worked for Cuba Cheese for 21 years where became manger of their whey plant. He then moved to Murfreesboro, TN for 2 years then returned to New York where he lived in Caledonia. While there he worked for O-At-Ka Milk Products & most recently had been working at High Falls Brewing in Rochester as Production Manager.
Mr. Levine was very good at working with his hands. At the age of 24 in 1984 he built his first home, a real log cabin from scratch to live in and raise their family in. He enjoyed doing many things including chain saw carving (He carved the Cuba Rebel that sits in the foyer at Cuba Rushford School) and carpentry. He also enjoyed four wheeling, playing the guitar and recently canoeing.
Surviving Mr. Levine besides his wife are his mother, Ada C. Levine of Cuba; two sons, Mark A. (Natasha) Levine of Cuba, and Michael A. Levine of Olean; a daughter Hannah L. Levine of Caledonia; three sisters, Tara L. (Jerry) Lewis of Lafayette, Co., Colleen E. (Robert) King of Frewsburg, NY, and Michelle B. (Dan) Caryl of Honeoye Falls, NY; and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Levine was pre-deceased by his father, William G. Levine in June of 1974 and a brother William G. Levine in Feb of 2000.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba on Friday November 21, 2008 from 6 to 8 P.M., and on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 from 11:00 to 12:00 noon at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Paul Lewis of the Obi Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville, Pa.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cuba First Baptist Church 17 South Street, Cuba, Cuba Circulating Library 39 E. Main St., Cuba or to the Obi Community Church 1984 Rt. 305 Cuba, NY 14727.
