Marilyn L. Silvers formerly of 130 N. 3rd Street and Eden Heights passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Silvers was born April 23, 1933 in Ridgway, PA and was a daughter of Floyd and Beatrice Olson Laughner. On Dec. 1, 1961 she married Frank J. Silvers who predeceased her on Jan. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Silvers graduated from Ridgway Area High School in 1951. She had worked for the Elliott Company in Ridgway, PA and Pepper and Crandall in Olean. Mrs. Silvers is a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean, where she belonged to the Quilting Club. Mrs. Silvers volunteered at the Olean General Hospital for about 5 years until about 2007. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Silvers is survived by three sons, Bruce (Debra) Silvers of Allegany, Robert (Carolyn) Silvers of Vallejo, California, and William "Ted" Silvers of Syracuse; two daughters, Jane Dash of Buffalo, and Nancy (Peter) Kurzdorfer of Olean; ten grandchildren, Bradley, Megan, Jason, Jennifer, Ryan, Kevin, Chris, Karin, Lorraine, and Robin; three great grandchildren, Jack, Reese, and Seinna; two brothers, Bruce (Cheryl) Laughner of Warren, PA, and Jim Laughner of Ridgway, PA; two sisters, Patty (Jim) Wagner of Owensboro, KY, and Bea Dworkin of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ivy Gauvin, Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church in Portville, in the absence of the Rev. Marie Meeks, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery Veteran Field of Honor.
