Duke Center – Margaret L. Baire “Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother”
Margaret L. "Nickey" Baire of 881 Main St Duke Center, formerly of Olean passed away on Monday, December 6th, 2021, shortly after arrival at the Bradford Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving husband "Richard" & family from a heart attack.
Margaret was born in Olean on July 17th, 1931, and was the daughter of John F. and Margaret L. Langworthy Ducey. She married her High School Sweetheart “Dickie" of 70 years on February 3rd, 1951, in Olean at St. Mary’s Church.
Margaret was a 1949 graduate of Olean High School. While in school she worked at the Bradners Department Store in the office. After graduating she began working in the office for McElfresh Insurance company on the 7th floor of the First National Bank for a couple years and then raised her family. She also worked at Loretto foods for a short period of time just around Christmas. She was formerly a member of the Olean Eagles Club and its bowling league.
Nickey was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed art & crafts, bingo, basket making, flower arranging, game shows, and puzzles. But most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. At the end of everyday she would always ask if each family member was okay and safe. She wanted every family member to look out and take care of each other.
Nickey is survived by her loving husband and three children Michael R. (Sandra) Baire, Port Kent NY, Patricia M. (Ricky) Price, Duke Center, John C. (Laurie Hern) Baire, of Allegany, 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. One sister-in-law Linda Ducy, Eldred and several nieces & nephews.
Nickey was predeceased by her parents, a son, Theodore R. Baire, two siblings, John F. (Arlene) Ducey Jr., and David Ducey, and daughter in law, Marcia Baire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at 11:00am at the St. Bonaventure Parish, 95 E Main St Allegany. A luncheon will follow at the St. Joseph’s Hall, 1102 Walnut St Olean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Bereavement Committee.
