Olean – Loren Dean Ervay "A Life Well Lived" Loren Dean Ervay, of 902 Osgood Street, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Buffalo General Hospital, following an illness. Dean was born on November 25, 1939 in Olean and was a son of Smith and Evelena Pettis Ervay. He was formerly married to Sharon Gould. On April 22, 1977 in Olean, he married his wife of 44 years, Lila L. Mitchell Deckman, who survives. Dean was a 1960 graduate of Hinsdale High School. He served in the US Air Force from December 28, 1960 to September 3, 1964. Dean worked at Fibercel Corporation from 1977 to 2001 in design packaging, retiring after 32 years. He returned to Fibercel on a part-time basis in the engineering department in 2006. Dean attended the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean. He was a very talented craftsman and over the years built various kinds of furniture, cabinets, and wood turnings for his family - all of which were held together by the strongest glue on the market - LOVE. In every sense of the word Dean was a professional "Jack of all trades" and a true and dedicated family man - a class act in all ways. Along with his loving wife, Lila, Dean is survived by; 4 children, Mark (Melissa) Ervay of Ransomville, Michael (Tracy) Ervay of Little Valley, Carole (Kirk) Walker of Bradford, PA, and Thomas (Melissa) Deckman of Olean; 6 grandchildren, Colby James Ervay, Dean Mitchell Ervay, Lillian Elaine Ervay, Jamie Leigh (Nate) Pantano, Jason Russo, and Benjamin Halleck; 2 sisters, his twin sister, Florence Jean (David) McInroy of Limestone and Susan Ervay of Williamsburg, VA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John (Joanne) Mitchell of East Amherst; and several nieces and nephews. Dean was predeceased by his parents, Smith and Evelena Ervay, 2 sisters, Wanda Gore and Sally Chafin, and 2 brothers Smith Ervay, Jr. and Thomas Ervay. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean, on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Kim Rossi, Rector of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, will officiate.
