Olean- Leslie P. Tarr Jr. “ Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather”
Leslie P. Tarr Jr of 516 N 7th Street passed away on Friday November 4, 2022, at the Gowanda Rehab & Nursing Facility, following a long illness.
Leslie was born on April 8, 1945, in Bolivar and was the son of Leslie P. and Ruth Champlain Tarr Sr.. On July 5, 1974, in Olean he married his loving wife, Sandra R. Spino who survives him.
Leslie graduated from Bolivar High School in 1963 and worked for Abbott Welding for over 20 years as a truck driver until his retirement in 2017. He served as a Crossing guard for the Olean School District for 5 years and he loved talking to all of the children and monitoring the traffic. Leslie enjoyed bowling, baking, playing cards, going for rides and finding new “short cuts”. He loved his dog Bubba and all animals, going out to eat, working on cars for Joe Zemer, telling jokes, and Elvis and Patsy Cline oldies. Leslie took great pride in taking care of his wife and loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Olean, five children, David C. Bennett of Olean, Russell (Amy) Tarr of Lenoir, NC., Lucinda Turner of Williamsburg, VA., Lisa Ann (Donald) Carpenter and Matthew (Tarah) Tarr both of Olean, grandchildren; Zayne Tarr of Portville, Kaitlin Gregory of Allegany, Charlotte Bennet of Rochester, Julian Bennett of Olean, Mia Bennett of Portville, Gabby and Jake Carpenter of Olean, Andrew Telvesca, Joshua, Morgan, Erin, all of North Carolina, Sasha Tarr of Arizona, Ryan Tarr of Scio, Rashad Tarr of Georgia, Dante Tarr and Shemar Turner both of Ohio, great grandchildren, three siblings, Gene Tarr of Bolivar, Gary (Angel) Tarr of Allegany, Shari Commen.
Leslie was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Brenda Domenski, a grandson Zachary Tarr; siblings, Rose Wilbur, Barbara McDonald, Keith Tarr, and Mary Dash.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Creek Side Community Church, Pastor Adam Stein will officiate. Burial will be in St Bonaventure Cemetery.
