Olean – LeRoy L. "Pete" Knowlton "Loving Husband, Father, & Grandfather"
LeRoy L. "Pete" Knowlton of 1464 Indiana Ave, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Pete was born on May 4, 1937 in Coudersport, PA and was a son of Lester Willard and Geneva Stevens Knowlton. On May 8, 1960, at the Olean First Baptist Church, he married his wife of 61 years Josephine Ella Farr, who survives.
Pete began working for the Buffalo Sand & Gravel at the gravel pit on the Birch Run Road in Allegany as a Loader, and then at their pit in Franklinville also as a Loader. He retired in 1999 after working for over 30 years. Pete enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and going for walks with his grandchildren. He spent every spare moment in the woods.
Along with his loving wife, Josephine, Pete is survived by; a daughter, Cindy J. (Dawn) Spencer; 2 granddaughters, Kendra R. (Jacob Darrin) Knowlton of Allegany and Casey J. Knowlton of Olean; a grandson, Corey D. Spencer of Pennsylvania; 4 siblings, Marcella Brown of Olean, Willard Knowlton of Jamestown, Lorraine Knowlton and Barbara (Frank) Williams both of Olean; and many nieces and nephews.
Pete was predeceased by; his parents; and 7 siblings, Kenneth, Joseph, and June Knowlton, Mary Elliott, Margaret Larkin, Jane Champlin, and Dawn Hoffman.
Fiends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Rick L. Price, Pastor of the Bradford Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in South Olean.
