Mrs. Lenora E. Sandberg 87, formerly of Maple Ave, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the St. Johns Home in Rochester, following a long illness.
Mrs. Sandberg was Jan. 11, 1924 in South Brownsville, Pa. and was a daughter of Charles Franklin and Gladys Elmira Kistler Ingland. She married the love of her life Carl Evert Sandberg, who pre-deceased her on Sept. 5, 1954.
Lenora was a resident of Allegany, NY for 46 years. She was a bookkeeper at the Olean Times Herald for 34 years retiring in May 1, 1990 at the age of 66. Lenora was a member of the Olean Church of the Nazarene and served many position for years, including teaching Sunday School, being a board member and treasurer.
Mrs. Sandberg is survived by two children, Linda (Alan) Michels of Rochester, and Paul Sandberg of Bent Mountain, Va.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Waters, Allison (Christopher) Didden, James (Lisa) Michels, and Rebecca (Mark) Hinkle; nine great-grandchildren; her youngest sister, Goldie (Albert) Wise of Waynesburg, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sandberg was predeceased by two brothers, Warren Ingland in 1951 and Weston Ingland in 2001; and one sister, Bethel Smalski in 2001.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at which time Funeral and Committal Service will be held. The Rev. Mark Blankenship, Pastor of the Calvary Community Church of the Nazarene in Henrietta NY, will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
