Laverne O. Carlson

LaVerne O. Carlson of 123 N 20th Street, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at home following an illness. LaVerne was born on May 24, 1923 in Olean and was a son of Carl J. and Esther M. Pettis Carlson. He served his country in the US Army during World War II from Jan. 26, 1943 to August 7, 1944. During European Theater of Operation his was injured and became disabled. LaVerne enjoyed hunting and fishing and reading magazines. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and especially his nieces and nephews. LaVerne is survived by a sister, Florence J. (William) Bailey of Olean; a brother, James G. Carlson of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Anna Louise Judge on July 13, 1993; and a brother, Carl A. Carlson. Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Thursday Dec. 13, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Marie A. Meeks, Pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
