Karl V. Dutton of 3135 Union Valley Road passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at home following an illness.
Karl was born on May 22, 1927 in Olean and was a son of Vincent and Alice Isaman Dutton. On June 7, 1947 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany he married his wife Eleanor I Ratzel who survives.
Mr. Dutton was a life long resident of Hinsdale. He served in the US Army during WWII from Aug. 23, 1945 to Jan. 20, 1947. Karl worked for American Olean Tile in Olean from 1947-1975 and then for Dexter Hysol from 1979-1989. One of the things that was dear to his heart was the Pleasant Valley Cemetery where he would work and volunteer his time taking care of the equipment and the grounds. He was also currently serving as a trustee on the board of director for the cemetery, which he has done for many years. He was very active at the cemetery right up until Oct. 2011 when he became ill. Karl was a member the Hinsdale Historical Society and Hinsdale American Legion Post 1434 and he and his wife were members of Hinsdale Guys & Gals club.
Besides his loving wife of almost 64 years, Karl is survived by one son, Karl E. (Josephine) Dutton of Hinsdale; two daughters, Susan M. Dutton of Hinsdale, and Barbara J. (Aaron) Wing of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren, Valerie Villi, Tammy Smith, Kristine Kastler, Angela Wing, Joel Wing, Laura Vocu; ten great grandchildren; three great great granchildren, one sister, Harriet Wilday of Olean; one brother, Vincent (Hope) Dutton of Callaway MD; and several nieces & nephews.
Karl Predeceased by three children, Karen Dutton in 1949, Joseph Dutton in 1957, and Sharon Wing in 2006.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Robert Schooley, Pastor of the Friendship United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
