Olean – Joseph F. Kowalski, Jr.
Joseph F. Kowalski, Jr., better known as Poppa, passed away on October 1, 2020, at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Joseph was born on June 13, 1945 and was a son of Joseph F. and Katie Kowalski, Sr. He graduated from Franklinville Central School. Joseph served in the US Army from April 17, 1964 to March 29, 1967. He worked at Dresser Rand for over 30 years. Joseph was a volunteer fireman in Franklinville. He enjoyed picnics, bowling, and long walks, but he truly loved spending time with family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Sharon; 2 children, Sherry (Heith) Crowell and John (Jennifer) Howard; 9 grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Kaleb, Hunter, Gavin, Trevor, Savannah, Alana, and Hailey; and a large extended family.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean and again on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at which time a service will be held at the Central Baptist Church, 701 West State Street, Olean,. The Rev. Allen Yates, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Veteran's Field of Honor in Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com.
