John R. Teller

John R. Teller, formerly of Friendship, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at his home in Aberdeen from an apparent heart attack. John was born on Dec. 9, 1943 in Wellsville and was a son of Russell Teller and Barbara R. & Carrel E. Lewis. He married Sandra K. Carney, who survives. He entered the United State Army at the age of 17 and served for 21 years. While serving in the Army, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medals, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and six Good Accommodation Awards. John served several tours of duty including Vietnam, Alaska, Germany, and Korea. After settling into civilian life John enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping, hunting, flea markets and candle making. In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, John is survived by a daughter, Charmon F. (Robert J.) Goldsmith of Aberdeen, Md; four grandchildren, Lisa M. (Joshua) Burnett of Summerville, SC, Melissa A. Teller of York, PA, Brandy N. Goldsmith Boone of Aberdeen, MD, and Christina L. (fianc�, Brice Hadden) Teller of Alexandra, VA; three great grandchildren, Casandra R. "Cassie" and Alexandra L. "Allie" Burnett of Summerville, SC, and Kelsey M. Zigler of York, PA; two sisters, Susan M. (Dale) Thomas of Belmont, and Linda L. Lewis of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews including Becky (Dan) Hanchett, Cristy (Shannon) McKinley, Denise (Roger) Baker, and Dale (Kate) Thomas, Jr. John was pre-deceased by his father and his mother & step father and grandparents; a son, Dale Lynn Teller in 1992; two other infant sons; and a great grandson, Jamri Adam Goldsmith Boone. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside Memorial Service on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 12:00 noon in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. The Rev. Marion Schneider, will officiate.
