John R. Bloise of 105 Woodside Drive, formerly of Olean, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness.
John was born on Sept. 18, 1945 in Olean and was a son of James V. and Margaret Helen Manjille Bloise, Sr. On Jan. 14, 1965 in Olean he married his wife Marjorie A. Everitt, who survives.
John was a professional musician from the 1960's until he retired in the late 1980's. He was well known in the Olean area and surrounding areas for his guitar playing, most notably with the group "Aerovons". John was also well known for teaching music and playing as a studio musician. He had the privilege to play with hundreds of musicians, whom he loved and admired. Upon retiring from music, in 1990 John established J&J insurance and tax service in White Bluff, TN. Where he owned and operated J&J until his retirement 2008. J&J remains in the family now owned by his daughter and son-in-law.
John was an avid golfer and loved to ride his motorcycle. John's most treasured time was spent with his loving wife, Margie, his adored grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, and special friends Ronald Mettler, and James and Sylvia McPharland whom he considered family.
Surviving John, besides his wife are a daughter, Tanya M. (Michael) Vanovermeiren of Dickson, TN; a brother, James V. Bloise, Jr. of Cuba, NY; seven grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Flicker, Branden Flicker, Ryan Keeny, Michelle, Mikey, Sebastian, and Savannah Vanovermeiren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and clients.
John was pre-deceased by two sons, James V. Bloise II on Sept. 5, 1983 and John R. Bloise, Jr. on Sept. 1, 1995; a grandson, Mark Hudock on June 21, 2006; a brother, Robert L. Bloise on May 7, 2009; and a sister, Frances Bloise in 1995.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 beginning at 10:00 am. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
