JoAnn R. Mazza, 88, formerly of 2877 Five Mile Road, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
Born on June 2, 1925, JoAnn was the daughter of Donald L. and Mary E. Wheeler who preceded her in death. On Nov. 11, 1945, at the Olean First Baptist Church, she married her husband of 66 years, Bernard E. Mazza, who predeceased her Feb. 7, 2012.
JoAnn was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1943 and also attended Westbrook Academy. She was a homemaker and a member of Olean First Baptist Church. JoAnn was a Sunday school teacher, Trustee, Deaconess, and President of the American Baptist Women's Society. A longtime member of the Olean Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she held offices of Chaplain, Sunshine Chairman, and Regent. For many years, JoAnn was a devoted volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She lived in Friendship for a number of years and was a member of the Friendship Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
JoAnn is survived by two sons, Alan (Jane) Mazza of Eastman, GA, and Mark Mazza of McFarland, WI; two grandsons, Bradley (Candace) Mazza and David (Kimberly) Mazza of Eastman, GA; two great grandchildren, Benjamin Mazza and McKenna Mazza of Eastman, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her loving husband, JoAnn was predeacesed by a brother, Gene Wheeler.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Letro-McIntsoh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State Street, Olean from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Millard Cook, Associate Pastor at the Olean First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
