Joan C. Wigent

July 30, 1919 — April 23, 2011

Joan C. Wigent formerly of 2865 Route 244 Belmont, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Golden Living Center following an illness. Mrs. Wigent was born July 30, 1919, in Hallock, Minn., a daughter of Chester and Frieda Brodin Poore. On October 18, 1939 in Mt. Morris she married Stuart C. Wigent, her husband of 68 years, who predeceased her June 4, 2007. In 2009 she moved to Gettysburg Pa. to be closer to her son. Mrs. Wigent enjoyed being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, working around the house, driving around the countryside, and reading. She also found enjoyment in going to the "Texas Hot". Mrs. Wigent attended Phillips Creek Mennonite Church. Surviving Mrs. Wigent is two sons, Terry A. (Linda) Wigent of Gettysburg, Pa. and Lawrence C. (Georgia) Wigent of Bentonviller, Ark.; three grandchildren, Heather L. (Parker) Kelleher, Larisa (Travis) Caldwell, and Christopher (Denise) Wigent; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harley (Shirley) Poore of Cuba Mrs. Wigent was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Sherman Poore; and two sisters, Jean Hewitt & Goldie Guild. Burial will be the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba. There will be a Memorial Services on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 am in the Phillips Creek Mennonite Church. The Rev. Michael Poore, Joan's Nephew and the Rev. Lester Hess, Pastor of Phillips Creek Mennonite Church, will officiate.
