Jessie M. Murphy

Jessie M. Murphy, of 45 Grover St., passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness. Jessie was born July 14, 1962 in Hornell and was a daughter of Glenn L. and Arlouine A. Braley Houghtaling, Sr. On Dec. 24, 2008, in Scio she married her husband John P. Murphy, who survives. Jessie attended Olean High School. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, gardening especially flowers, and cooking. Along with her loving husband, Jessie is survived by her mother, Arlouine Braley of Olean; two children, Donald Edward Mills of Elmira, and Jessica A. (James) McHenry of Hinsdale; nine stepchildren, Holly (Robert) Brown of Salamanca, John (Ashley) Murphy, Jr. of Salamanca, April Murphy of Wellsville, Shawn Murphy of North Carolina, Christine Murphy of Elmira, Mark Murphy of Warren, PA, Steven Murphy of Wellsville, Mary Baker of Jamestown, and Keith Baker of Frewsburg; many grandchildren; six siblings, Jackie (David) Mears of Hornell, Glenn Houghtaling of Olean, Jerry Houghtaling of Olean, Judy Houghtaling of Virginia, Arlouine Lawson of Olean, and Gary Houghtaling of Olean; and many nieces & nephews. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held.
