Jerald B. Holland of 3101 Route 98 South, Franklinville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital.
Mr. Holland was born on Nov. 15, 1948 in Buffalo and was a son of Clifford "Zip" and Joan Schaus Holland. On Nov. 18, 1995 in Franklinville he married Sandra Michotek, who survives.
Mr. Holland was a 1966 graduate of Machias-Delavan High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vet Nam war from Oct. 4, 1967 to Aug. 25, 1970. Mr. Holland worked for a number of places including construction and working in a gravel pit. He then purchased a Tractor Trailer Truck and began driving first for Buffalo Fuel for 15 years and then for Fullone Trucking in Niagara Falls. Mr. Holland retired in Sept. of 2008 due to illness.
Mr. Holland enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed painting pictures, drawing and working around his home. Mr. Holland was a member of both the Franklinville VFW and American Legion.
Surviving Mr. Holland besides his wife are three sons, Christopher J. Holland of Brevard, NC., Kevin (Janelle) Drennan of Carpentersville, Ill., and Jason S. Lafferty of Holland; a daughter, Laurie S. (Scott) Lafferty-John of Great Valley; six grandchildren, Jackson, Tanner and Logan John, Justin, Mark and Kevina Drennan; three brothers, Brad (Mary) Holland of Franklinville, Brain (Ronda) Holland of Machias, and Tom (Val) Holland of Machias.
Mr. Holland was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Pamela Holland, and two brothers, Daryl Lee Holland in 1957 and Phillip "Pooker" Holland in 2004.
At Mr. Holland request there will be on public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date that will be announced. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Franklinville Fire Department or to the Franklinville Conservation Club.
