James L. Threehouse

James L. Threehouse of 901 Washington Street, formerly of 318 Tompkins Street, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Threehouse was born on Dec. 12, 1944 in Olean he was a son of John G. & Francis Parret Threehouse. On Oct. 4, 1969 in St. Stephan's Episcopal Church he married Diane Pepin, who survives. Mr. Threehouse served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from Jan. 20, 1966 to Jan. 19, 1968. While in the Army he served in Air Mobile 1St Cavalry where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Purple Heart, 2 O/S Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman Badge Rifle M16, Army Commendation Medal w/Bronze Star, Bronze Star w/1 OLC. Jim worked at the Bartlett County Club before and after the Vietnam War, when he returned as Head Grounds Keeper until 1971. He worked at CONAP for 6 years until 1977 when he opened "Jim's Pub" on North Union Street. He and his wife Diane operated the pub for 22 years until 1999 when they sold the property to CVS Pharmacy and retired. Jim owned hunting camps in both Ischua and most currently on the Barnum Road in Olean. He loved to hunt and fish and spending time at the camp with the guys. Jim's true love was his family, of whom he was extremely proud. He loved to be around all of them, his wife Diane, sons Mike & Matt and his brothers & sisters, nieces & nephews and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren Ally & Evan who were the apple of his eye. Jim was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion, Norton Chambers Post #1434, Olean Area Eagles and the IOOB (International Order of Old Bastards Club) in Franklinville. He was also a past member of the Enchanted Mountain Beagles Club. Jim was well known and enjoyed going to all the local clam bakes. He also loved to watch football and baseball games and was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. Surviving Jim besides his wife of 42 years are two sons, Michael A. (Elizabeth) Threehouse of Olean, and Matthew J. (Janean) Threehouse of Allegany; two grandchildren, Allyson and Evan Threehouse; three sisters, Mary Graham of Olean, Sandy Threehouse of Olean, and Sharon (Dr. Edward) Jordan of Portville; and many nieces & nephews. Jim was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Ronald Threehouse; and three sisters, Virginia Threehouse Kenyon, Barbara Ann Case and June Threehouse Gallets. Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Thursday Sept. 22, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Evans will officiate. Burial with full Military Honor's will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, New York. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
