Jack A. Truman of 103 West Highland Ave. passed away Friday May 9, 2014 at the Absolut of Allegany, following a long illness. Jack was born May 22, 1929, in Salamanca, N.Y., a son to Harry A. and Dorothy "Duffee" Truman. He was a graduate of Salamanca High School. Jack served in The US Army from Dec. 8, 1950 to Dec. 1, 1952. On October 10, 1953, he married the love of his life Donna R. Dunn, who survives. Jack was a loyal, dedicated & hard working man. He was a cook at Icky's Cookies, Beef & Barrel, St. Bonaventure's University "Hickey Hall", and Angee's Restaurant. Jack retired in 2011 after working until he was 82. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and the casino slots. But most of all Jack loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Surviving Jack besides his wife of 61 years are a son, Gary "Gus" Truman of Olean; a daughter, Ann L. (Vincent Marra) Truman of Olean; five grandsons, Dennis (Colleen) Truman of Potsdam, Jared Truman of Olean, Jason "Snitty" Smith of Olean, Joshua "JD" Marra of Olean, and Anthony Marra of Olean; three great grandchildren, Kaelin, Opal & Oakley Truman; a sister, Jean Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by a brother, Richard Truman; and a sister, Lucy Dry. As per Jack wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral.
