Smethport- Ignatius “Lou” Joseph Calabrese 

 Ignatius “Lou” Joseph Calabrese of Emerald Isle passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Olean General Hospital following a brief illness. 

 Lou was born on June 6, 1934, in Buffalo and was the son of Angelo and Antonina Pugliese Calabrese. On July 2, 2005, in Cyclone, PA he married his loving wife of 20 years, Dawn L. Darrin, who survives. 

 Lou served in the US Army from February 19, 1957, until February 18, 1959. He owned and operated his own plumbing business in Buffalo for his whole career where he was fondly known as “Iggy”. 

Lou loved music, especially playing keyboard while Lou and his wife sang, entertaining at local nursing homes and senior centers up until he passed. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and his children. Lou was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. He will be remembered as a very devoted and happy man who never complained. 

 Beside his loving wife Dawn, Lou is survived by 3 children: Nancy (Charles) Mule’, Laura Battaglia, Tracy Calabrese, grandchildren: Patricia (Robert) Reese, Elaina, Ginamarie (Ryan) Divita, Charles (Andrea) Mule’, Matthew, Michael, and Maxwell Battaglia, and Christian Calabrese, great grandchildren: Bryson, Gianna and Robert Jr. Reese, and Emmett, Charles, and Ellie Divita, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. 

 Lou was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, Carl, Michael, and Charles Calabrese, and 3 sisters, Celina Frisicaro, Rose Nigro, and Mary Parrish. 

Friends will be received on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Hilltop Baptist Church, 3658 Route 646, Gifford, PA from 11:00am to 12:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held. Pastor Max Simms will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
