Allegany – Horace G. "Bucky" Peck, Jr. "Loving Father, Grandfather, & Brother"
Horace G. "Bucky" Peck, Jr., of Allegany, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
Horace was born on August 30, 1943 in Warsaw and was a son of Horace G. and Emogen Tisdale Peck, Sr. On June 13, 1964, at St. Bonaventure Church, he married his wife of 53 years, Ellen M. Barr, who predeceased him on September 19, 2017.
Horace attended Allegany High School. He began working at Work & Silvis at the age of 20 and continued for over 30 years until his retirement. Horace was a member of the Allegany Rod and Gun Club and the Allegany Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and cutting wood, but most of all he loved his family, spending time with them, and family gatherings.
Horace is survived by; 4 children, Beth A. (Peter) Bird of Webster, John P. (Leslie) Peck of Greenwich, Audra M. Lakeman of Lockport, and Matthew G. (Billee Jo) Peck of Cortland; 8 grandchildren, Justin (Ryenn) & Davis Bird, Michael (Jenna) Halse, Grace, Grant, and Lilly Peck, and Alexandra & Sydney Lakeman; great grandson, Calvin Halse; 7 siblings, William (Sue) Peck of Franklinville, Richard (Linda) Peck, Gloria (Carl) Foster, and Carol (Rich) Chew all of Allegany, James (Judy) Peck of Olean, Michelle (Bill) Steinbroner of Little Valley, and Michael (Mary) Peck of Allegany; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel A. Barr and Eileen E. Shabala; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his loving wife Ellen, Horace, was predeceased by, an infant son, Horace G. Peck, III, and 5 siblings, Barbara Beil, Judy Jordan, Fern Fahy, Dawn Nudd, and Jack Peck.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be made at www.LetroMcIntoshSpinkFuneralHome.com.
