Olean – Helen M. Schwindler "Beloved Wife, Mother, & Grandmother"
Helen M. Schwindler, of 221 North 7th Street, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
Helen was born on August 29, 1950 in Lockport and was a daughter of Charles and Stella Sturtevant Eifert. On July 3, 1971, as St. Mary's Church in Lockport, PA, she married her husband of 49 years, Robert C. Schwindler, who survives.
Helen was a 1968 graduate of Lockport High School. She attended Nursing School at Deacon's Hospital in Buffalo, receiving her nursing degree in 1971. Helen and her husband, moved to Olean and she started working at Olean General Hospital on October 5, 1971 mainly as an ICU Nurse then in IT, where she worked until her retirement in 2012. She truly loved being a nurse and taking care of people. Helen was formerly a member of St. John's Church.
Helen enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading, and collecting recipes, but she truly loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Along with her loving husband, Helen is survived by; 4 children, Verity A. Schwindler, Sarita L. Schwindler, Kara L. (Tammy) Schwindler, and Gina M. Schwindler all of Olean; 3 grandchildren, Brianna M. Schwindler, Hayden R. Schwindler, and Joshua L. Koch; 6 siblings, Charles F. "Butch" (Barbara) Eifert of Lockport, PA, Joseph M. Eifert of Olean, Tina M. Tester, Renee Brown, and Daniel Eifert all of Lockport and Rose L. Sturtevant of Kissimmee, FL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Sharon L. Eifert on July 19, 2013.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm, followed by a time of Visitation and Remembrance until 4:00 pm, at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.LetroMcIntoshSpinkFuneralHome.com.
