Houston, Texas – Helen McIntosh (nee Gonzalez)
Our beloved mother, Helen Gonzalez McIntosh, formerly of Lancaster, New York passed away peacefully on October 28, 2020 in Houston, Texas at the age of 95. She was born on January 14, 1925 in Buffalo, New York, to Ana and Miguel Gonzalez, the second youngest of their 10 children. She was the former wife and lifelong friend of the late James C. McIntosh.
In her youth one of her favorite past times was participating in the Spanish Club with her sisters and cousins. Her close knit family instilled in her love and compassion and most importantly the importance of family. She loved telling stories of her family life and growing up on the East and West sides of Buffalo. She would recount many stories of the small shops and the kindness of neighbors. After graduating from Lafayette High School she worked at Curtiss Wright during World War II. Mom loved singing, especially Spanish songs. She truly “had a song in her heart”, whether singing by herself, with her sisters, her children and grandchildren. Later in her life you could count that phone calls would include at least a half hour of singing together on the phone. We miss your songs, Mom, but we will cherish them in our hearts.
Surviving are her seven children, Cheryl Ann (David) Corry, Susan (Louis) Sallie, James G. McIntosh, Brian (Robin DeVelis) McIntosh, Marianne (late Edward) Leddick, Donald Jay (Cori) McIntosh, Alan Scott (Kim) McIntosh; Loving Grandmother and Nana of Jamie Ann Corry, Adam (Beth) Corry, Shane (Laurie) Sallie, Kimberly Sallie, Gregory (Kate) Sallie, Erin Lew, Jamison McIntosh, Josh (Kristin) Leddick, Amanda (Arron) Whitmore, Melissa (Ben) Chew, Donald Jay (Heather) McIntosh Jr., Amanda (Daniel) McKim, Hayley (fiancé Brad Bodgan) McIntosh and 21 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her loving sister Gerry (late Howard) Siegel, and a special niece and friend Mary Ann (late Herb) Nuwer, sister-in-law Nancy (late George) Holub as well as many nieces and nephews.
