Olean- Helen Louise Hurd “Loving Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother” 

 Helen L. Hurd of South 12th Street passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Olean General Hospital. 

 Helen was born on July 28, 1935, in Olean and was the daughter of George E. and Margaret H. Johnson Bish. On September 6, 1953, she married Alfred W. Granger, Sr who predeceased her on September 18, 1976. She then married Robert Hurd on July 6, 1979, who predeceased her on August 25, 2014. 

Helen worked at numerous places in the Olean Area, she worked at Park n Shop for many years, she worked at Staples for more than 10 years and then BonTon until she retired in about 2016. Helen was a life member of the Hinsdale Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the casino, socializing, and going for a coffee at McDonalds. 

 Helen is survived by her 3 children: Margaret A. “Peggy” (Dean Smith) Macklin of Ischua, Cindy A. Nupp of Hinsdale, Alfred W. “Sparky” (Ann) Granger of Olean, 13 grandchildren, Julie, Kelly, Alesha, Elizabeth, Shannon, Shawn, Shavonne, Shelly, Shane, Shallena, Brian, Michael, and Amanda, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

 Along with her loving husbands, Alfred and Robert, Helen was predeceased by her 9 siblings: Earl Bish, Hilma Burton, Ruth Brailey, Robert Bish, Charles Bish, Richard Bish, Genevieve Farr, William Holman Bish, and Mary Ann McDivitt, a son in law, Robert L. Nupp on March 4, 2021, a great granddaughter, Cecelia A. Granger on April 10, 2022, a great great granddaughter, Eveleigh Kenjockety on Mary 18, 2023. 

Friends will be received at Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held. Rev. Tyrone Hall, Pastor of Church Without Walls, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
