Helen A. Hollands of 807 E. Orange Street, formerly of Olean, passed away on Sunday January 8, 2012 at home follow an short illness.
Mrs. Hollands was born February 10, 1918 in Corning, and was a daughter of Joseph and Anastasia Shmercaka Bablo. She married her husband of 50 years Lloyd H. Hollands on Sept 27, 1941, who pre-deceased her on Sept. 17, 1991.
Mrs. Hollands worked for Corning Glass Works in Corning for 5 or 6 years in the 1930's. They moved to Wellsville in 1964 and opened Lafayette Electronics and shortly after open a store in Olean on East State St. They also had a store in Bradford for Four Years. They retired in 1978. She moved to Fla. in 2006. Mrs. Hollands enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the Easter Star.
Mrs. Hollands is survived by a son, Frank H. (Linda) Hollands of Apopka, FL; one stepdaughter, Joan (Jim) Sieger of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grand daughter.
Mrs. Hollands is predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Hollands in June 1947; a son, Richard L. Hollands on January 31, 2003; five brothers, Mike, John, Joseph, Frank and George Bablo; and a sister, Mary Bablo Strzepek.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which an Elder from the local Hall of Jehovah's Witness will speak. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
