Olean- Helen Elaine Anderson “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother” Elaine Anderson of 483 Indiana Ave passed away on Wednesday February 15, 2023, at Olean General Hospital following an illness. Elaine was born on September 15, 1925, in Lamont, PA and was the daughter of James M. and Esther C. Asp Vail. On March 27, 1948, in Kane she married Jerome L. Anderson who predeceased her on April 11, 2016. Elaine was a 1943 graduate of Wilcox High School and attended West Brook Academy. She worked for NVV Franchot Oil Co. in Olean as an office worker from 1944 to 1948 and later worked for Both Branch and Hendrix from 1966 until her retirement in 1982. Elaine was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church where she served on the altar committee. She enjoyed being home, reading and traveling. Elaine is survived by her four children: Linda E. Skaarup of Troy, NY., Terry D. (Brenda) Anderson of Grand Junction, CO., Jeffery J. (Cynthia) Anderson of Jamestown, and Lisa J. Anderson of Allegany, nine grandchildren: Keely Ralston, John Skaarup, Sherri Hansen, Scott Reuber, Sarah Anderson, Jessica Anderson Rath, Lindsey Marowski, Jeffrey Seamon, Anna Seamon and 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Jerry in 2016, a sister, Sara J. Armstrong in 2014, a brother, James M. Vail in 2022, and a son-in-law, George Seamon in 2022. Friends will be received at the Bethany Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 11:00am-1:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev Kim Rossi, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
