Hazel J. Elliott, 90, of 3380 Pennsylvania Rd., passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Olean General Hospital following a short illness.
Hazel Elliott was born May 3, 1923 in Otto and was a daughter of Wallace C.A. and Agnes Gerwitz Grube. On Feb. 6, 1950 in Cumberland, MD, she married her husband of 16 years Clarence (Curly) Elliott, Sr., who predeceased her on June 6, 1966.
Hazel graduated from Olean High School in June of 1941. She worked a few years at Rocky Crest Sanitarium, W.T. Grants, and retired from Cutco in June of 1988. Hazel was formerly a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also a life member of the Olean Chapter #148 of the Women of the Moose with degrees in Academy of Friendship, College of Regents and Star Recorder. Hazel was a member of the F.O. Eagles #3600 Prescott, AZ, the Bradford Cootiettes Fireflies #85, Cutco Retirees, and the Hinsdale Guys and Gals.
Hazel is survived by one stepson, Roy Elliott; three stepgrandsons, Roy Elliott of Bolivar, Robert Elliott of Olean, and William Elliott of Grand Rapids, MI; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Hazel was predeceased by one stepson, Roy Elliott; and three sisters, Dorothy (Clair) Newton, Marie (Ken) Carlson-Kennedy, and Frances Button.
There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
