Allegany – Harriet J. Bryer
Harriet J. Bryer of 2557 Keim Hollow Road, Allegany passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Harriet was born on December 15th, 1928, in Englewood, N.J. and was the daughter of Harold L. and Beatrice Hubbard Martinelli. On September 22nd, 1946, at St. Cecelia’s Church in Englewood she married Roy Bryer II, her loving husband of 66 years, who predeceased her May 24th, 2013.
Harriet attended Englewood High School in New Jersey. She was employed by Bell Phone Co. as a phone operator in Englewood. Harriet and her family moved to Allegany in 1960 and started a small family farm.
Harriet was a 60-plus- year member of St. Bonaventure Church. She loved all of her many pets over the years. Harriet enjoyed antiques and collecting dolls and in the past was an avid golfer and bowler.
Harriet is survived by her three sons, Glenn S. Bryer, Steven Bryer, and Roy K. (Donna) Bryer III all of Allegany; one daughter; Karren Bryer of Allegany; two grandchildren, Steven Bryer Jr. of Bradford, PA and Joyce Bryer of Ashville, NC; two great grandchildren, Angel and Tiffany Bryer both of Bradford, PA; two sisters, Marion Montena of Maywood, NJ, and Caroline Brown of Memphis, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Harriet was predeceased by her husband and a son, Darryl Bryer on March 1st, 2000.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 30th, 2021, beginning with a prayer at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Bonaventure Church at 10:00am. The Rev. James Vacco, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will celebrate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
