Harold G. Stabb of 1743 Happy Hollow Road passed away Saturday November 19, 2011 at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Harold was born on January 11 1933 in Oneida, New York and was the son of Clarence Anthony and Zella Pearl Webster Stabb. He was raised by his father and step mother Elizabeth Loosmann. On August 27, 1955 at the St. Mary of the Angels Church he married Patricia Ann Swartz, who survives.
Harold graduated Olean High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine from July 19, 1950 to July 18, 1954 where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. He was proud to be a Marine. After his military service he returned to Olean and attended St. Bonaventure for a couple of years. Harold owned and operated his own remolding & construction business. He also had a woodshop at his home, where he made "Handy Craft" furniture, which he would travel around to various Malls & display and sell. He sold darts & supplies as well as crafts and signs out of his house. Herald went to work Sears and Roebuck on North Union Street for number of years and then to K-Mart in the appliance dept. right up to his illness in Oct. 2011. He was known as a friendly man that had many talents & was very handy.
Harold was a former member of St. Mary of The Angels Church. He was also a member of the Elks and various dart leagues.
Besides his loving wife of 56 Harold is survived by three sons, Jack Anthony (Cheryl) Stabb of Oakland, CA, Christopher R. (Andrea) Stabb of Weston FL, and Peter M. Stabb of Burlington, VT; a step brother, Donald Loosmann of Cary, NC; and several grand & great grandchildren.
Herald was pre-deceased by a son, Daniel J. Stabb on Nov. 15, 1996; his mother, father and step mother.
At Harold request there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his wife Patricia to help defray medical bills & Expenses.
