Olean - Gerald H. Potter. "Loving Father & Grandfather"
Gerald H. Potter, of 636 East State Street, formerly of Salamanca, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at his home, following a brief illness.
Gerry was born on March 10, 1942 in Bradford, PA and was a son of Gerald Herman and Alice Adelle Shultz Potter. On June 15, 1963 in Bradford, PA, he married his wife of almost 51 years, Patricia J. Scarano, who predeceased him on, May 1, 2014.
Gerry served in the US Army from Dec. 29, 1959 to Dec. 21, 1962. He started working at Dresser as a Machinist in 1968 until 2004, when he retired after 36 years. Gerry was a member of the Salamanca American Legion and the Salamanca VFW. He played the lead guitar in a band for 25 years throughout his life along with his wife. Gerry liked to go fishing as a younger man. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by; 2 daughters, Elizabeth J. "Beth" (Jeff Cousins) Marsh of Hinsdale and Marie A. (Anthony) Verolini of Bradford, PA; 4 grandchildren, Michael J. Potter, Misti L. Potter, Justin M. Marsh, and Allyson Verolini; a great grandson, Ethan J. Potter; and his best friend, Buddy Potter.
A Private Funeral was held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Mt. View Cemetery in Olean. The Rev. Millard C. Cook, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Olean, will officiate.
