Genesee- Gene A. Tarr “Loving Father, Grandfather & Brother”

Gene A. Tarr of 976 County Road 5 passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Gene was born on November 3, 1952 in Olean and was the son of Leslie P. and Ruth Champlain Tarr, Sr.  On February 12, 1972 in Olean he married the love of his life Debra L. Kline who predeceased him on March 24, 2021.

Gene worked for the Town of Bolivar in the Department of Public Works for 30 years retiring in 2014.  He loved his grandchildren, playing music on his guitar, hunting, fishing, camping, playing pool, working on cars and baking deserts.

Gene is survived by; 3 children, Buffy L. (Leon) Gardner of Little Genesee, Kelly J. Snyder of Wewahitchka, FL, and Jason E. Tarr of Bolivar; 5 grandchildren, Chayse, Rhyley, Autumn, Courtney and Sheldon; 4 great grandchildren, Brynlee, Declan, Kington and Ellison; 2 siblings, Gary (Angel) Tarr of Allegany and Shari Common of Portville; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife, Debra, Gene was predeceased by; his parents; a daughter, Tina J. Fanton on March 19, 2019; 5 siblings, Leslie P. Tarr, Jr., Mary Dash, Barbara McDonald, Rose Marie Mattison and Keith Tarr, Sr.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St. from 11:00 am to 1:00pm at which time a funeral service will be held.  The Rev. Tim Taylor, Pastor of the Crosstown Alliance Church in Shinglehouse, PA will officiate.   Burial will be in Bowler Cemetery, Little Genesee.
