Frank A. Hale, of 1032 W. Sullivan St, passed away Monday, Aug 26, 2013 at the his home following a brief illness.
Frank was born March 14, 1938 in Hinsdale and was a son of Clinton and Myrtle Howard Hale. On Sept. 20, 1958 in the Eldred Methodist Church he married Doris A. Tyler, who survives. Frank worked at a number of places including as a teenager Olean Green House, Olean Whole Sale and Market Baskets Stores warehouse, he also ran his own business for many years "Hale Refuge", and then a couple of construction co including S J Groves, Cold Springs and Hawke Tonka Construction. Frank then worked at Community Bank for 10 years and then for Jamestown Community College in Olean in the maintenance department for 23 years retiring in 2010.
For the past 23 years Frank has also worked part time for the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, as head grounds keeper. Where his talents and his ability to make things grow, where unsurpassed and where he grew to be part of a family who will sorely miss him. Frank also had a deep love for boating and fishing and working in his garden.
Surviving Frank besides his loving wife of almost 53 years are a son, John A. Harloff of Olean; two daughters, Cynthia K. Boysh, and Roxane E. Hale both of Olean; many grand and great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (Shirley) Hale of Hinsdale; a sister, Jane Keyser of Wellsville; and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Frank was pre-deceased by a son, Frank A. Hale, Jr. on Nov. 25, 1959; a grandson, Richard A. Boysha, Jr. on Aug. 29, 2006; six sisters, Ruth Ostrum, Hazel Cronk, Mildred Marks, June VanCuren, Dorothy Butchello and Martha Greeley; and five brothers, James, William, Richard, Fred and Arthur Hale.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral and Committal Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Chuck Maine, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
