Frank Edward Crawford

Frank Edward Crawford of 2620 West Windfall Road, Olean, passed away peacefully, Thursday Feb. 12, 2015 at his home following an illness. Frank was born April 17, 1949 in Cuba and was a son of Lester and Dora Speta Crawford. On June 21, 1969 at St. Joseph's Church in Olean, he married his wife of 45 years, the former, Christine M. Knieser, who survives. Frank graduated from Portville High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years, from 1969 to 1976, travelling to Iceland and Germany, among other places. Frank returned to Olean in 1977. He worked at ACME in Allegany for about 3 years. In 1980, Frank began working for the Olean Public Schools in the Elementary school as a Custodian. His warm and caring presence was appreciated by students and staff. Frank retired in 2009. He is a former member of the Knapp Creek Fire Department and the Olean Rod & Gun Club. Frank and his wife enjoyed camping and travelling, NASCAR races, and precious time with family, friends, in-laws, and nieces & nephews. We would like to extend a special thanks to family & friends; Rob (Melissa) VanHoutte, Mark (Chris) Fries, Don & Beth McFall, the Huff Family, Craig & Sharon Myers, and the wonderful staff at the HomeCare and Hospice for making our time together at home possible. Along with his loving and devoted wife, Frank is survived by a daughter, Sherry A. (Frank) VanHoutte/Kwakye-Berko of Brooklyn; five granddaughters, Haleigh (Anthony) Gingras, Ashleigh (Brian) VanHoutte, Kyleigh, Emaleigh, and Lileigh VanHoutte; three great grandsons, Shay, Eli, & Brayden; six siblings, Darlene, Patty, Leo, Mary, Danny, & Joe; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by three brothers, Leslie, Gene, & Victor. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean, NY, on Saturday Feb. 14, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. Deacon Dwayne Cerbone will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
