Francis L. Cornelius of 12 Rail Road Ave passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 in the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility, following a long illness.
Mr. Cornelius was born on April 12, 1928 in Wellsville, New York and was the son Harry and Mildred Fish Cornelius.
Mr. Cornelius was a truck driver for LC Whitfird for several years, driving log and dump trucks. He later worked for Lee Mitchom. Mr. Cornelius retired in 1988 due to his health. He was a social member of the Cuba VFW.
Mr. Cornelius enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt Fan. He also enjoyed horse pulls, driving stock cars and fishing.
Mr. Cornelius is survived by special friend of 25 years, Vivian G. Sabey of Cuba; three sons, Ronald (Mary) Cornelius of Black Creek, David (Lisa) Cornelius of Shaletteville, VA, and Francis L. "Skip" Cornelius of Alabama N.Y; three daughters, Pamela A. (Jamie) Cole of Bolivar, Cindy M. (Jay) Sherwood of N.C., and Louane (Cathy) Wilson of Belfast; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Cornelius was pre-deceased by a brother, Harold Cornelius in November, 1982.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cuba VFW or the Cuba American Legion.
