Olean- Eva V. Carlson “Loving Mother & Grandmother”
Eva V. Carlson of Beechwood Continuing Care Facility in Getzville, formerly of Olean, passed away on Friday March 3, 2023, following an illness.
Eva was born on January 29, 1927, in Olean and was the daughter of Johan Albin and Hilda Olivia Johnson Tenglund. On September 28, 1946, at Bethany Lutheran Church she married Norman H. Carlson who predeceased her on September 3, 2011.
Eva was a 1944 graduate of Olean High School. She worked retail in clothing for both men’s and women’s at Janes and Bradner’s Department Store. Eva volunteered at the YMCA Nursery School for 13 years where she knitted mittens for all of her children. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, gold, and vacationing in Florida. Eva was formerly a member of the “Jollie Time Club” and Bethany Lutheran Church.
Eva is survived by her daughter, Sonja M. (Paul Rokitka) Fernsted of East Amherst, a granddaughter, Kymberli A. Fernsted, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Eve was predeceased by her husband and seven siblings: Ruth Bender, infant brother Carl Oscar Tenglund, Albert Tenglund, Elsie Ingalls, Eleanor O’Conner, Violet Lampe, and Sbea Williams.
Friends will be received at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Moss Drive Olean on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 1:00-2:00pm at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Kim Rossi, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
