Ethel M. "Kitty" Hopkins on 4460 Route 275, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 in the Palliative Care United at the Cuba Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Mr. Hopkins was born on Dec. 8, 1937 in Eldred, Pa and she was a daughter of Francis W. and Vinnie R. Kinney Haynes. On March 16, 1961 she married Duane B. Hopkins, Sr. who pre-deceased her on March 8, 1990.
Mrs. Hopkins was a graduate of Portville Central High School. She worked at various jobs including "Pick-Ups" on North Union Street, Olean. Mrs. Hopkins also worked for a about 2 years at Farnsworth Cookies in Cuba and mostly at St. Vincent De Paul Society Store 441 N. Union Street until her retirement in 2009 due to her illness.
Mrs. Hopkins was an avid Bingo Player and enjoyed playing cards with her life long friends. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family who she loved. Mrs. Hopkins was a former member of the Lady Aux of the Friendship Fire Depart.
Surviving Mrs. Hopkins are two sons, Duane B. (Debbie) Hopkins of Cuba, and Norman J. Hopkins of Montana; a daughter, Rhonda J. (Leon) Fisk of Chalmers Ind.; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grand children; two brothers, Francis "Jake" Haynes of Bolivar, and Elvin Haynes of South Carolina; many nieces and nephews; and a close friend Bonnie Sortore.
Friendship Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, and on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 10:00AM at which time Funeral services will be held. The Rev. Marian H. Schneider of the Southern Tier Episcopal Ministries will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres Pa.
