Elizabeth L. Snyder

June 11, 1924 — April 3, 2017

Elizabeth L. "Betty" Snyder of 102 South 17th Street, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 in the Olean General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on June 11, 1924 in Olean and was a daughter of Charles H. and Agnes Schuman Connor. On Oct. 9, 1948, at St. Mary of the Angels Church, she married her husband of 56 years, Donald R. Snyder, who predeceased her on March 23, 2005. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Olean High School. She worked in the office at the Family Bargain Center for a period of time before becoming a clerk at Bradner's Department Store for about 10 years. Betty was a devout Catholic who was a life long member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. She was an avid reader, but most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty is survived by a son, Philip M. (JoAnn) Snyder of Allegany; a daughter-in-Law, Mary Jo Snyder of Olean; five grandchildren, Gregg M. (Kevin O'Laughlin) Snyder of Brookline, MA, Brett E. (Christopher Pavlekovsky) Snyder of Pittsburgh, PA; P.J. (Briana) Snyder of Andover, MA, Jaime E. Snyder of Dominican Republic and Katie M. (Jim Rymiszewski) Snyder of Springfield, VA; two great grandchildren, Lukas and Dania Snyder; a brother-in-law, Douglas Snyder of Olean; and a sister-in-law, Ruth "Rusty" Snyder of West Chester, PA. Along with her loving husband, Betty was predeceased by a son, Donald F. Snyder on Feb. 10, 2006; and a half sister, Mary Agnes "Marion" DeVoe in 1933. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Boston Dana Farber Cancer Institute for Pediatric Cancer, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, Massachusetts 02284-9168 or to the Basilica of St. Mary's, #202 South Union Street, Olean, New York 14760. Online condolences may be made by clicking the button above.
