Edna A. Meacham formerly of 1936 Melody Lane, Olean, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at the Pines Health & Rehab following a lengthy illness.
Edna was born September 5, 1932 in Bullis Mills, PA and she was a daughter of Fred and Ruby Benten Unverdorben. She was formerly married to George F. Ferry, Sr. and Donald Meacham.
Edna was a graduate of Eldred High School. She worked at the Olean General Hospital in the Maternity Ward for a number of years before going to work at the County Nursing Home. While at the nursing home Edna worked as an aid and then worked in the housekeeping department where she retired from in 1994 after being there for over 15 years.
Edna enjoyed going to the beach and to auctions and playing cards. She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and especially her grandchildren.
Edna is survived by two sons, George F. (Rebecca) Ferry, Jr. of Olean, and Steve A. (Caroline) Ferry of Bolivar; two daughters, Tina A. (James) Farmer of Olean, and Deborah J. (Al) Skinner of Olean & FL; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara O'Toole and Rosalie Stanton; one brother, Rodney Unverdorben; and many nieces & nephews.
Edna was predeceased by one infant daughter, Sandy Ferry and grandson, Michael Farmer; six brothers, Jack, Richard, Gordon, Fred, Clifford, and Alton Unverdorben; and two sisters, Ida DeFiore and Gladys Smith.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of the St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to "The Michael A. Farmer Memorial Fund, Inc." C/O James Farmer, 121 South 10th Street, Olean, New York 14760, to support research in the prevention and cure for epilepsy.
