Edmund C. Burdick of 6698 Crabb Hollow Road, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Olean General Hospital, following an illness. Ed was born Dec. 27, 1927 in his grandparents, Clara and Edward Bartlett L, home in Weston's Mills and was a son of Charles Raymond and Blanche Dewey Burdick. On March 20, 1948, he married his wife of almost 65 years, Shirley A. Hill, who survives. Ed attended a two room school in Weston Mills and then the Olean schools and was a 1945 graduated from Olean High School. He also attended General Motor Institute in Michigan in 1945. He served in the US Army from 1945-1947 at Fort Belvou. After his service to his country he worked a paper route in Weston's Mills. Ed worked for Vincent Wilday Buick a couple of different time as well as Lime Materials then McGraw Edison from 1952 to 1971. In 1972 he and his wife bought Burdick Trainer Sales in Weston Mills which they ran until 1988 when they sold it to Gary Rinehart and Buzz Wenke. Ed then sold cars for Meyer Barnard Chevy and he went to work at West State Hardware. He was elected Town Supervisor for the town of New Hudson in 1982 until 1991 and then he was elected as Allegany County Legislator District II in 1992 until 2006 of Cuba, New Hudson, Clarksville, Friendship and Amity and word. He then he retire for good. Ed was a 60 plus year member of the Portville Lodge #579 beginning in 1952 and a Past Master for 2 years, Coudersport Consistory, Life Weston Mills Fire Department from 1946 to 1970, Past President of Inter county Commissioner for 3 three years, was a delegate for from Allegany County Legislator 12 years and a Legislator delegate for NYS DEC Fish and Game Association for 112 year. Surviving Ed, besides his wife are one son, Ricky Lee (Pam) Burdick of Black Creek; two daughters, Sandra (David) Greenslade of Avon Park, FL, and Valerie (Gary) Rhinehart of Eldred, PA; eight grandchildren, Andria (Chip) McHargue, Adam (Marci) Greenslade, Kenneth (Kary) Rhinehart, Melissa (Bill) Clayson, Angela Burdick, Daniel Johnston, Michael Elliott, and Jacque Elliott; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Arline (Richard) Collins of Hamburg, and Janice (Max) Hurlburt of Hinsdale; one brother, Keith (Bonnie) Burdick of New Port Richey, FL; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Fehr of New Port Richey, FL; and many nieces & nephews. Ed was predeceased by a sister, Betty Lou Fehr. Friends will be received, Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 E. State St., Olean from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, where funeral and committal services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Marilyn K. Hale, Pastor of the Portville, First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery. Member of the Portville Lodge will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday evening at 8:30 pm.
