Dorothy L. Hamer formerly of 7746 Rt. 305, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 in the Highland Health Care Center Wellsville.
Mrs. Hamer was born on March 30, 1917 in Hinsdale and was a daughter of Vincent and Ruby Easlick Morris. She married her husband Kirk Hamer on Sept. 17, 1939 in Cuba. He pre-deceased her in Oct. 1997.
Mrs. Hamer worked for ACME in Cuba from 1949 to 1951. Then she worked on the family farm "The Hamer Dairy Farm" in Belfast until they retired and sold the farm to there son. Mrs. Hamer loved to square dance and travel. She also known for her sewing and knitting skills. Mrs. Hamer loved her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren.
Surviving Mrs. Hamer are a son, Richard M. (Sherry) Hamer of Belfast; three grandchildren, Tracy (Bradley) Jerge of Rushford, Penny Russell of Belfast, and Buffy (Matt) Greek of Belfast; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Skinner of Friendship.
Mrs. Hamer was pre-deceased by her husband; a grandson, Richard Hamer; two brothers, Leonard and Mike Morris; and two sisters, Pauline Clark and Ruth Leonard.
There will be no public visitation. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Hinsdale Cemetery, Hinsdale, N.Y. The Rev. Howard K. Lockwood will officiate. Burial will be in the Hinsdale Cemetery, Hinsdale NY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad, 11 Mertom Ave., Belfast, NY 14711.
