Dorothy I. Dunshie, 95, formerly of Promised Land Road, passed joyfully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Currituck House, Moyock, NC.
Born on March 17, 1918, in Flat Rock, IL, she was the sixth of ten children born to Lawrence and Blanche Myers also formerly of Portville. She was married on June 22, 1941, in Olean to Robert Lee Dunshie, an Olean barber, who predeceased her on Sept. 4, 2010.
Mrs. Dunshie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olean and an early member of Showers Evangelical United Brethren Church of Olean. She was employed at the Olean Times Herald, but her real career was serving her Lord, being a wife, mother, grandmother and making a house a home.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Lee Morton of Grandy, NC; her son Robert Lee Dunshie, Jr. of Upatoi, GA; three grandchildren, Amy (David) Cranston of Millville, NJ, Matthew (Jackie) Perry of Parkville, MD, and Nathan (Elizabeth) Perry of Mays Landing, NJ; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Bristi, and Justin Wigglesworth, Austin and Jordan Perry, Eryn and Sydney Hagen; and great-great-grandchildren, Elli and Ryder Wigglesworth.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Nancy Marconi in Sept. 2012; five sisters, Goldie Haupt, Helen Karns, Geneieve Anderson, Virginia Simon, and Bonnie Bartlett; and four brothers, Victor, Harold, Claude, and Donald Myers.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 10 to 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Olean, 133 S. Union St. followed by Funeral services at 11 am, Rev. Dan McDowell officiating. Following a luncheon at the church, Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, in Portville.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials, if desired, may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Olean.
