Olean- Donald W. Hitchcock “Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather” Donald W. Hitchcock of 4732 South Cooper Hill passed away on Wed., October 26, 2022, following a short illness from lung cancer. Don was born on June 8, 1957, in Olean and was the son of Bruce E. and Ann J. Frederick Hitchcock. On August 12, 1978, in Centerville he married his loving wife Cindy L. Ballard who survives. He was the love and rock of our family and will be deeply missed. Don worked at Seneca Craftsman from 1979-1991 and Fancher Furniture for years before starting his own business, D.H Builder in 2002, as a General Contractor until his retirement in 2019. Don loved his family and he was always willing to help someone out. Don also loved the outdoors; when he wasn’t working, he could be found working on his farm or in the woods. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, wood carving, making maples syrup, NASCAR, the Buffalo Bill and was always building or fixing something. Besides his wife, Cindy Hitchcock of Allegany, Don is survived by two children, Jacob W. Hitchcock of Olean, and Sarah J. (Matthew) Hawks of Hinsdale, five grandchildren, Jacob Jr., Kaylei, Jarriett, Sophia, and Anna, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Bruce (Michelle) Hitchcock, Freeman (Makayla) Hitchcock, four sisters, Martha (Bob) France, Azalia Miller, Lori (Terri) Smith, Sara Estel, two sister in laws, Mary and Alvina, his “adopted” brother, Anthony DiRienzo along with many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Sally Hitchcock and Ann Rust, and two brothers, Jeffery and Ronald Hitchcock. Per Don’s wishes there will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Don’s wife and family wish thanks to HomeCare & Hospice, a few very special friends, Dr. Ryan Albert and Dr. Annmarie Zimmerman for their care and for going above and beyond for Don.
