Olean- Dennis William Bentley
Dennis W. Bentley of N 5th Street passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Buffalo VA Hospital following an illness.
Dennis was born on January 23, 1950, in Bolivar and was the son of Leonard W. and Phyllis J. Polen Bentley.
Dennis served in the US Army in the early 70s and was stationed in Germany where he met his lifelong friend, James Buzzard. Dennis was an avid sports fan, especially the Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and UConn Basketball teams. He spent many years hunting with his friend Dan Deckman, his daughter, and grandson, and he also enjoyed fishing. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family; every Thursday he played a family game, marbles, at his daughter’s house with close friends and family. Dennis loved his dog Bentley very much; he spent every day by his side for 12 years until his passing in 2024.
Dennis is survived by his mother, Phyllis J. Bentley, daughters, April (Tom) Embs and Cortney (Charles) Givens, grandchildren, Justus Bentley, Cory Givens, and Camden Givens, siblings, Deanna Bentley and Vicki (Daniel) Jenkins, adoptive daughters by heart, Jennifer (Cody) Hausner and Nicole (Jakob) Herring, adoptive grandchildren by heart, Makayla Herring, Charlie Herring, and Wyatt Herring.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, to assist in funeral expenses for Dennis.
