Buzz McCready of Olean passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at Bradford Manor following a brief illness.
Buzz was born on June 28, 1947 in Olean and was a son of James and Rita Pierce McCready. On August 8, 1970 in Olean he married his wife, Lillian M. Hicklin, who survives.
Being a lifelong resident of Olean, Buzz was a graduate of Olean High School Class of 1965. He served in the United States Army, from January 6, 1966 to December 18, 1968. Buzz worked at Clark Brothers, McGraw Edison before attending Brunswick Management School in Chicago, IL. He returned to manage the Brunswick Bowling Centers in Olean and others throughout the Northeast. In 1986, Buzz opened "Buzz's Pub" on North Union Street and continued to operate it until his retirement due to his health.
Buzz is a past member of Olean Eagles, Elks, VFW, St. Steven's Club, and the Hinsdale American Legion. He enjoyed playing darts, bowling, and horse shoes. Buzz not only played softball for local teams, but he also was a sponsor. Buzz was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Besides his loving wife of almost 42 years, Buzz is survived by two sons, David W. McCready, II of Olean, and Travis J. (Catherine) McCready of Hinsdale; one granddaughter, Keira L. McCready; one brother, Gary McCready of Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
Buzz was predeceased by a brother, James McCready and a sister, Barbara Metcalf.
A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
