Friendship – David G. “Crispy” Cross
David G. Cross of 8293 N. Branch Road passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
David was born on May 31, 1969, in Buffalo and was the son of Gordon E. and Gail M. Ranney Cross. On January 5, 1998, David met the love of his life, his “wife”, Gail A. Jones, who survives.
David was a class of 1988 graduate of Olean High School. He graduated from Paul Smith College with his associates degree in Culinary Arts. David worked at Angee’s, The Castle, Brothers Bistro, Century Manor, Moon Winks, Rafi’s, St. Bonaventure Club House, Pit Stop and Woodside Tavern where he felt it was the best place he ever cooked.
David loved his friends and family. He enjoyed mountain biking, hiking, playing the drums, camping, bonfires especially big ones and burning wax boxes David also loved birds, nature, cooking, gatherings with friends, the Buffalo Sabres, books, dogs, and tequila. David was known for his humor and sarcasm, love of music including Rusted Root, The Grateful Dead, and the Ramones.
Along with his wife, Gail, David is survived by; his mother, Gail Cross of Olean; 2 daughters, Jessica P. (Jonathan) Townsend of Fredonia and Mary K. Pasieka of Cuba; a grandson Carter A. Mooney and 3 siblings, Barbara Ann Evans of Monroe, NC, Brian M. (Susan) Cross of Olean, Daryl T. (Tabatha) Cross of Monroe, NC, a niece and several nephews.
David was predeceased by his father Gordon E. Cross on September 21, 2013.
Friends will be received at Bethany Lutheran Church 6 Leo Moss Drive Olean on Saturday, February 11, 2023 for a celebration of life from 11:00am-1:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held by Dodi McIntyre.
